![]() Plus early on we got points faster than we unlocked the traits to spend them on. So it seems worth it 100% unless you plan to play one quick time through and never again. In Rhom on our second full playthrough and we have about 400 points. I got 140 points well before the end of my first playthrough, though we restarted twice (we started fresh on the highest difficulty and had to rethink that), and we did one adventure mode earth after finishing earth and learning something about bosses. ![]() The fact that trait points don't go up is actually a reason TO max elder knowledge because the points you are putting into elder knowledge are no more expensive than the extra ones you are getting out (your "last" 20 points are not prohibitively expensive to get) which lowers the break even point. You get X more xp over time and at some point you have more trait points with elder knowledge than without. The fact that the xp needed for points don't go up isn't relevant the math is the same. ![]() Someone said the break even point is 140 trait points but I haven't done the math. I maxed it with my first 20 points and why wouldn't you? It pays for itself over time and then some. I'm not saying it is entirely useless but I think the payoff is marginal at best and that it's probably a trap for new players who may need the extra survivability other traits provide. Unless I'm missing something Elder Knowledge can be useful in the long term if you want to cut down on farming to max out as many traits as possible.īUT unless I'm mistaken from what I've read online there is no hard level cap so getting more trait points is just a matter of time spent in the game and following that logic Elder Knowledge will take a long time to pay off and it will definitely set you back (since it will delay more useful traits). You get extra trait points from tomes in the world. Apparently the bonus only affects the points you receive for killing enemies. The amount required to unlock a new trait point seems to cap at 1,500 which means that the difference will probably not be as huge as I first expected. It does delay putting points in other (more useful -at least short term) traits and as a result it makes for a more punishing early game. I've started playing recently so when I found this Trait I thought it would be a good idea to focus on it but I'm starting to have second thoughts:
